Workflow steps

1. Patient Need
   Patient has condition potentially treatable with cannabis medicine. Must have exhausted conventional treatment options first.
2. Referral to Specialist
   GP refers to specialist physician (neurologist, oncologist, or pain specialist). Specialist evaluation required before cannabis prescription considered.

3. Specialist Section 4-4 Application
   Specialist applies to NoMA for Section 4-4 authorization to prescribe an unlicensed cannabis medicine. Clinical justification must be strong.

   • Detailed clinical history
   • Proposed product and dosing rationale
   • Monitoring plan
4. NoMA approval?
   NoMA reviews application. Conservative — approval not guaranteed. Processing typically 4–6 weeks.
5. Patient Access Granted ✓
   Medication dispensed via hospital pharmacy. Ongoing monitoring by prescribing specialist required.
