Import Authorization

Workflow steps

1. Import Intent
   You wish to import medical cannabis into Peru. DIGEMID requires per-shipment import authorization. Ley 30681 (2017) legalized medical cannabis, establishing the regulatory framework.
   • Licensed Peruvian importer / wholesaler
   • DIGEMID import authorization per shipment
   • Medical prescription basis
2. DIGEMID Import Authorization — Per-shipment
   Apply to DIGEMID for per-shipment import authorization. Each shipment requires a separate authorization. GMP certificate from the exporting country required.
   • EU-GMP or FDA GMP certificate from manufacturer
   • Certificate of Analysis per batch
   • Product specifications
   • Medical prescription justification
3. Authorization granted?
   DIGEMID reviews application against Ley 30681 requirements. May request additional product documentation, GMP clarification, or clinical justification.
4. Address DIGEMID Queries
   Provide additional documentation, updated GMP certificates, or clinical data as requested by DIGEMID.
   • Respond within DIGEMID-specified timeframe
   • Updated certificates if expired
5. Authorization Issued
   Per-shipment import authorization valid for the specified quantity, product, and importer.
   • Original document required at customs
   • Shipment must match authorization exactly
6. Customs Clearance
   SUNAT (Peruvian customs) processes narcotic import declaration. Documentation review and potential physical inspection.
   • Original DIGEMID import authorization
   • All shipping documents + COA
   • Narcotic import declaration
7. Shipment Cleared ✓
   Released to licensed Peruvian importer. Product available for pharmacy distribution against medical prescription.
